I'm hurt and dissapointed

So....where to begin. It's the 24th of April and every year on this day, Armenians around the world come together to commemorate the Armenian Genocide. Today I asked my professors if they could let me leave early after my review so I could join the thousands of people marching in the streets of Hollywood. We are all trying to make our voice heard. Unfortunately, we are all feeling very bitter and hurt at the moment. When Obama was running to be President, he had promised to recognize the Armenian Genocide. We all had hope that maybe this guy would be the one who would actually keep his word. But he did not.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Barack Obama was unequivocal during the campaign: As president, he would recognize the nearly century-old massacre of Armenians in Turkey as genocide.

In breaking that promise Friday, the president did the same diplomatic tiptoeing he criticized the Bush administration for doing.

I don't really know what to say. I just expected change for once...I don't know how to explain myself. It's hard to describe the feeling of being denied...of constantly having to fight for this. I don't understand how it is possible to not acknowledge a genocide for political reasons. We are humans...and this was a crime against humanity. I am so deeply hurt.
