best friends for life

My parents and their best friend, Vartan, 35 years ago today. The ultimate triforce. The following morning my parents flew to Sweden, never to return and a couple of years after, Vartan was killed.

These photos give me a bittersweet feeling. Sad that this day was the last time these three where together but happy that they had found each other and shared such a special bond. Best friends for life.

Mornings can be tough

I am not a morning person. When I don't have work I get out of bed whenever I feel awake enough...which is usually late. So when my friends asked me to go on an early morning hike over the weekend, I thought I must have hit my head somewhere to have agreed on tagging along. It didn't help that I went to bed at 4 am the night before. Anyway.

I ended up joining them with the help of a miracle and we completed a very uphill 6 mile hike with no problems. It was refreshing. I have, however, been walking around the office like a penguin due to the muscle aches that followed.

I love you so, I love you so Please break my heart

Wednesday evening I headed out to the metro station to see Alt-J at the Hollywood Palladium. It was a full house and we were packed like sardines - it was amazing. It's been getting very hot here in Los Angeles so we were all dehydrating inside the venue but the music kept us energized. They sounded great live...a bit different from what I thought it was gonna be like, but wonderful nevertheless. I had known about this show for many weeks but never committed to the idea of going because things have been so upside down over here but Tuesday night I knew I would regret it if I didn't go so I got the ticket. PLEASED I AM. Time for some nice dreams now. Hope you're all well.

fractals outside my window

I've been gardening a bit this summer. We have so many rose bushes and flowery plants that make my mom happy...now I'm planting things that make me happy like herbs and succulents. I love succulents. They are like cute little math equations displayed visually...real life fractal patterns. Besides their aesthetic qualities, they are a smart choice for conserving water since they don't require frequent watering.

Besides succulents, I have (secretly) planted sunflowers. The sunflower is my favorite flower. I've haven't told anyone they're there so it will be surprise when they bloom.
