A bunch of random photos from India. These are mostly shot in Chandigarh when we visited Le Corbusier’s buildings. I miss India and the people I went there with. It was such a good break from here.
I’m back from Palm Springs. I had a wonderful weekend with my sister and my friend. We drove out there Friday morning and had a blast till we came back home. We ate good food, exercised and hung out at the spa everyday and laughed a lot. Saturday morning we woke up early and drove to the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway which takes you up to Mount San Jacinto where we hiked around. Up in the mountains it was nice and cool….such a huge contrast to the intense heat below.
We drank a lot of coconut water and watermelon drinks to stay cool~
The restort we stayed at had tennis courts right by our room. I had nobody to play with though ;______;
This is us having fun with sunscreen before our hike.
It cost about twenty bucks per person to use the tram. It was an amazing ride….kind of scary, but amazing.
The mountain was filled with beautiful flowers.
My sister and I doing some Armenian dances when we reached the top~
Lame but necessary poses.
CAKE WE HAD AFTER THE HIKE. It was a gluten free chocolate cake……I only ate half…was too filling.
And some more food we had. MYAHHH.
I just came back from my Structures class. I got a 95/100 on my midterm. I am beyond thrilled. I aced that crap. Now onto concrete slabs!!
HOPE YOUR WEEK STARTED OFF WELL!!!!
I’m sitting in studio editing photographs from India and Dubai for an exhibition and I thought I’d share some. The exhibition is gonna be held on the 26th of March so I’ll have time to edit all the work I have during spring break which has just started!!!!!! Yay~
My midterm for studio was on Tuesday. I hadn’t slept in almost three days….It was painful, but being in studio with everyone else was still fun. This semester, studio doesn’t seem like a burden. I enjoy being here. Whenever I’m upset, I just walk to school and do my work in peace~ There is also always someone here from my class that I can talk to. <3
Okay! Gotta pack my stuff now! I’m gonna go eat and drink German sausages and beer at Wurstkuche with some friends <3
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend~
I’m on my feet again~ I went to school on Friday and I’ve been playing catch up ever since. My body is completely messed up haha…it’s so sad. After my fall, my neck has been hurting and I have a hard time turning my head. I’ve been doing twenty minute stretching exercises every day, but once I get my health back I’m going to start running like I used to. Slowly, slowly getting there~
So I have millions of photos/videos from India and I am kind of overwhelmed by the amount. I want to post everything but I think it will happen over time because school has top priority and it takes time to go through everything ~ So this is my first batch of photos!
Ahmedabad has several festivals throughout the year. While we were there, we got to participate in their kite festival which is on the 14th of January. It was an amazing experience. The whole week before the festival, the city was getting ready. Everywhere we would see people dyeing string in street corners. They dye them either a hot pink color or yellow so that it is easier to see when the kite is flying in the sky.
On the main day the entire sky was filled with kites. The ENTIRE sky. It’s hard to explain, but everywhere you looked there were kites…in trees, on the street, in random corners….everywhere. It was awesome. People go up to high places…usually their rooftops and fly their kites. The majority coat their kite string or manja with powdered glass so they can take down other people’s kites so we had to be careful not to get caught in a kite battle otherwise we could get hurt. I linked a wikipedia article which goes more into detail about that ~
One of the students in our group has family that lives in Gujarat and her uncle’s had invited us to their home for the festival. We had a bunch of kites with us that we had bought and they had a bunch too. We climbed up to their rooftop and her cousins taught us how to fly. I wasn’t that good the first time ;_____; but they told me I was learning fast yayyyy ~
Kites waiting to be flown!
Kites in the sky ~ The picture doesn’t show the kites so well ;____;….it was really difficult to photograph.
Me super happy to fly a kite~
The kite flying lasted all the way till the sun went down. When the darkness fell, the fireworks and floating lanterns started filling the sky! I also have to mention that during this entire day, music was blasting from everyone’s houses…..so much music and noise…it was amazing~ Some people were dancing on their rooftops…it was so cute ~
I made some “bracelets” from the extra manja ~ It stained my arm…..as of now, there is barely any color left ~
We went to a pastry shop the last day in Ahmedabad because I wanted to bring some sweets back to my family. The entire store was covered with baby kites~ Everywhere we walked, we would see kites ~ I love how the entire city embraces and participates in the festivals~
The guy on the left gave me this kites from the wall~ It now sits on my desk at home ~
Hope you guys are all well <3
I am officially back from India~ Got back at around two in the afternoon…I was the only one from our group that got my bags checked by customs. It was a pain, but everything went smoothly~
My dad greeted me at the airport with a bell pepper
I’m gonna go prepare for my classes tomorrow and sleep~ I’ll try to update as soon as I can.
I’m happy to be back
HI GUYS!!!!!!!!!! OMG FINALLY I’M ONLINE! It’s been a crazy week so far, but I am have arrived safely to India! We have been traveling around like nomads this past week and there has been no wifi/internet anywhere. I’m currently in Chandigarh and our hotel lets us use the internet for 100 rupees an hour (around 2 bucks). I have to wake up super early tomorrow, but I wanted to buy some Skype credits and just let people know that I’m alive first.
I haven’t spoken to my parents yet. I’ve tried sending emails, but nothing goes through. I just want to let them know I’m safe. I miss them hahaha <3
Flying to Dubai was hard on my body. Biggest highlights were flying over Sweden (even though it was dark outside) and flying over Armenia. I couldn’t believe I was flying above my old hometown…it’s the closest I’ve been to Hallsberg since I moved away. Flying over Armenia was very emotional for me. Looking out of my window, I could see Ararat. It was surreal.
Dubai was really unexpected. We were there for only 12 hours, but we walked around a lot. Checked out the older parts of Dubai and ended in the new city. We ate right outside of the Burj Khalifa and then rushed to the metro to get to the airport to catch out flight to Ahmedabad. The flight to Delhi was shaky and weird but I knocked out and didn’t realize when we had arrived.
Me at Dubai Airport! At this point we had been awake for 24 hours!!!
At a cafe in Dubai….I don’t even know.
Mint lemonade! So good <3
I loved the older parts of Dubai. So many small shops everywhere.
Inside the metro…trying to find our way around.
The Burj. This thing is so difficult to photograph. It is so tall that it doesn’t fit!
Metro in Dubai!
We got to Delhi Wednesday morning. Thursday morning we woke up early and drove to the northern city of Chandigarh (where I currently am typing this!). Uploading photos is going to be difficult as I’m not typing this on my own computer. I really hope that when we get back to Ahmedabad next week, that we’ll have a more steady connection. It’s been very frustrating.
Mosque in Delhi~

I hope you’re all doing well! If I’m not able to post before 2012 arrives, I’m gonna a wish you a happy new year now! HAPPY NEW YEARRRRRRRRRR~ <3
Talk to you soon, I hope <3
